Wine Investment

Do you prefer securities... or Bordeaux Fine Wines?

If you prefer wines, it is time to learn French... and at least a couple of specific English phrasesabout wine investments.

Premier Cru - First growth. (Latour, Lafite, Haut-Brion, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild)

Deuxieme Cru - Second growth.  (Leoville-Barton and Cos d'Estournel)

Do you prefer blue chip wines... I mean "investment grade wines", possessing sound investment credentials? What about "trophy wines" ... the Google of wine investments? "First Growths" of course.

Very expensive? Ok, try "small cap stocks"... eh I mean less expensive labels which can also provide good returns.

Or you like to invest in IPOs... I mean "improving assets", wine that improves over time

You can find everything! Fake wines, fine wines, wine frauds... welcome to the world of wine investments.

What? You invest in futures? Ok, "en primeur" wines are for you... you buy before it is bottled...

Why should you investing in wine?

Because you want to do it, that is why. Or, you love wines. Ok, there are some other reasons too.

The powerful law of supply and demand governs free markets.

There are a few good labels only, and predictable production quantities.

There are also rich people that "work" hard trying to find / drink / invest / impress / own fine wine.

It is nice to say at a party: "I am a rare wine collector", and to have 40% annual returns the same time if... you don't drink it... they don't drink it... your choice was successful... etc. etc. Anyway, you will continue to impress at the parties.

What? You don't like regulators? The wine investment market is largely unregulated ( if you believe this is good, don't invest!!!)

What? You don't like volatility?" Wine investments are great for you. Even if all major banks lose money next year, your wine is not affected! If worse comes to worst, you can drink up your position. Can you eat your securities and your "non-alternative" investments?
